I just turned 30. I'm the son of a German-American immigrant from East Prussia and survivor of World War II, and a rural Louisianan who got the hell out of rural Louisiana by way of the Air Force. Mom was a translator; Dad was an electrician and later a computer technician. They're both now retired. I have an older brother who is a computer engineer married to an English professor and Pilates instructor. My partner and I have been together for four years. He has a background in Army intelligence, international policy and something called "competitive intelligence." He now works for the the Department of Justice. Me? I recently passed the Patent Bar, and I'm currently studying for the Virginia Bar. I've always wanted to have a journal, but never got around to having one beyond e-mail communications with friends. I look forward to seeing if this little experiment will turn into a success.
